INDEXDoes anyone have a short piece they want filming?
6 years, 6 months ago - Alwyne Kennedy
Having recently finished a longish film - https://youtu.be/TIAR2cIXWkM - and now being somewhat bored, I would like to film something else. If someone has a short piece, then perhaps I would go for it if it interests me. It could be a showreel piece or a (very) short film. I would film it in 4K RAW, and do the post-production.
I have all the filming kit necessary (cameras / lighting / audio / grip), which comes free, but I would need to rent a van to transport my kit to the location. Daily van rental would need to be paid to me.
The location would need to be provided – a secure, interior location. I would consider concomitant limited outdoor shooting, though, so long as it would not be any place dodgy.
Nothing that glamorises violence, please. No gangster stuff.
You would need to provide the costumes and props, etc.
So, if you have a suitable piece you yearn to have shot, let me know.
I'm London based (SE6).

Hi Alwyne, I have a really cool scene set in a pub kitchen and two actors eager to shoot it for their show reel (they helped me with the development as I was writing it). We have the pub kitchen location available. Drop me an email lucy@lucylinger.com and I can ping you the script. I also have a couple of stand alone short films but they're still in earlier stage of development. Be great to be in touch. Lucy

Dear Alwyne,
Congratulations on INDWELLER. So cooled that you worked with Zoe Cunningham. She's so great. Marianna Dean, who directed Zoe in the award-winning SYMPTOMS is also directing my latest feature script, a female-triumph-over-adversity feature.
Based on INDWELLER, I have three psychologica/horror shorts that might be right up your alley and with the exception of IRONBRIDGE GORGE, extremely easy to produce.
A. REACTION SHOT
A five-page, one-location femjep one-hander.
Is she mad or is she about to be murdered?
B. JONATHAN, YOUR UBER IS WAITING
A ten-page one location two-hander.
A pudgy gamer, alone in his apartment, suddenly finds himself isolated. Nobody seems to to be online. He can’t contact anybody by cellphone. He can’t even connect to the Internet.
Then a stunningly beautiful woman, the kind he has always dreamed about, knocks on his door.
C. IRONBRIDGE GORGE
A 19-page, one location two-hander, shot in an exterior location.
A young man, falsely accused of rape, has lost his job, his wife, his reputation. He stands on an isolated rural bridge, about to commit suicide, when a strange hippie chick emerges from the mist to confront him about his decision. He, in turn, challenges all of her own beliefs/

All these scripts are works in progress, and we have no problem customizing them to fit your vision or enhance shootability.
Let us know if any these are projects worth pursuing and please feel to free to contact me if you have any questions or require further information.
Wishing you much success, creatively and financially in 2019.

Hi Alwyne,
Congratulations on INDWELLER. I've just watched it and really like it.
I have an idea for a short film that might be of interest to you. It's called The Book and it is a short film with no dialogue that tells the story of a mysterious book and how it affects the people who read it.
The story is told in short scenes, each scene depicts a different character and how they end up reading the book and the effect it has on them.
My idea was to have a different team of filmmakers tackle each different scene. Perhaps you would be interested in shooting one of the scenes? The idea itself is reminiscent of a 1965 film called The Yellow Rolls Royce, written by Terence Rattigan and directed by Anthony Asquith. The Rolls Royce is a device that connects three different stories into one film.
Briefly, the book is found by a bored young boy in a second hand bookshop. He's only there because his mum dragged him and he has no interest in books but this particular book falls off the shelf and hits him on the head. he keeps putting it back but it keeps falling off and hitting him and so he reads it. He very quickly becomes engrossed and finds it funny but just as he's beginning to really get into it his mum drags him off again and, in the process, he drops the book.
The book lies, unnoticed on the floor when a young woman falls over it. She picks the book up, begins to read it and is so engrossed that she buys it. She continues to read the book as she leaves the shop and as she walks along the road she bangs into a young man. They both end up on the floor and as they help each other up it's clear that it is love at first sight for both of them. She suddenly has no time for the book as her eyes are focused on the young man. As they walk away another, older woman see the book on the floor, picks it up and tries to give is back to the girl but she is lost in the crowd.
The older woman puts the book in her bag and heads for a graveyard where she lays flowers at the grave of her late husband. As she reaches in her bag for the flowers she instead pulls out the book. She begins to read it and her tears of sorrow turn to tears of joy...
That's as far as I've got but I think it has scope for more stories of how the book affects people. It's kind of my homage to literature and the important role reading has played, not just in my life but in everyone's lives.
So what do you think? If you're interested I'd love to hear from you. My email is samc@massproducedfilms.co.uk
Kind regards
Sam

Hi Alwyn,
I have a script about a bullied teacher that goes berserk that could be shot in a contained secondary school location.
Could you clarify whether you are just volunteering as DP/Editor rather than director please.
Thanks

Hi Alwyne,
This is a great offer, and I would love to perform a monologue direct to camera to go towards a showreel. I have a wonderful monologue in mind, by Dennis Kelly and his play 'Love and Money' - This could be shot somewhere as simple as a swing in a playground or just in a standard bedroom.
I just wanted to throw it out there also, should anyone above need an actress I would be super keen to get involved.
Please see my spotlight here: https://www.spotlight.com/interactive/cv/1171-3429-3887 and get in touch!
Thanks,
Lydia

Amberli, No, I didn't take it further. I was insufficiently enamoured with the scripts / projects. Also, not too long after posting, buoyed by my lead actor winning a Best Performance award for her role in my short, Indweller ( https://www.starburstmagazine.com/features/scarlett-rayner-siff-2019-best-performance) , I took to my keyboard to write a feature-length version of Indweller, and that became my priority / obsession and it consumed my spare time for several weeks. That script is now finished and it will be my next filming project - I'm trying to raise the money for it now.
