INDEXLooking For Screen Projects To Invest In
8 years, 9 months ago - Gary Braun
Hello, I'm an independent producer looking to invest in and help realise various screen projects ranging from short films to documentaries, via music videos and music production, and wondered where I may be able to find such projects being pitched? My budget is between 0-£3,000.
I'm aware of such sites as Cahootify where projects are looking for artistic or technical collaborators, but am unaware of where to sift through those looking for financial help - any advice would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Gary

Hi Gary. We have the rights to a Stephen King short Story called L.T.'s Theory of Pets. Pre-production stage at present, with celebrity main lead in position and have been making the target audience aware of the project over the last few months... Maybe you'd like to see the trailer and poster art... and further details. Thanks : )

Would like to explain myself better in order to receive more concrete results.
Am a semi retired business who discovered film making a few years ago.I fell in love with the process of film making.
I followed differend film making courses, film editing, purchased professional cinema equipment,etc..
I am interesting in physically participating in the creation of film making preferably in documentary films.
Have a partner who is a film editor, creates music and we have equipment.
Therefore it is not about my name to be written on the film as producer, but to participate in the process of filming.
It is also not about Indiegogo,or Kickstarter.

Hi Gary
You've been coresponding with this list on and off for a while now. For those of us who have followed and remember your journey I imagine we have some insight as to where you're coming from. What I would say is that for every film project there are unique elements, not just with the story, whether it be factual or fiction, but also with the people and physical stratagies in place. The aspirations driving a project are central. Is the project intended to be financially viable? Is the project intended to have an audience beyond friends and family or the incestuous limitations of the film festival arena? Is it a game, a hobby, a training exercise or serious attempt at a sustainable and professionally credible production?
It seems unnecessarily limiting for you to discount crowd funding business models. Indeed if you were able to partner with people with well formed projects and who also actually know what they're doing then your modest contribution at an early phase might act as a force multiplier greatly magnifying your role. £3,000 is not usually comensurate with seriously viable projects, though it wouldn't be the first time anyone had a success from no budget. Where £3,000 can be a force multiplier is towards creating an effective crowd funding campaign. Crowd funding is not limited to Kickstarter type platforms and indeed the most successful crowd funding has not relied upon the usual culprits . Factual projects that strike a chord with funders not interestef in making money or being meaninglessly associated with low budget or trite movies, is much more likely to attract large scale support. Equipment is no longer the issue when a broadcast standard 4K production and post production facility can be created and owned for as little as £4,000; (that's not a joke ) it's the quality of ideas, craft skills and creative enterprise that matter. Relationships stemming from cultural and idealogical compatabilities are more likely to contribute to successful outcomes than modest resources. Nevertheless modest resources appropriately sourced at an early phase may have a value disproportionate to scale and allow for an enhanced role for an early contributor. More opportunities are likely to emerge from an open mind than from projecting presumptions.

Hi Gary

A tragic event will occur to change Joseph's life forever.
I have had great feedback from potential cast that are willing to be part of this exciting project. therefore i need your help to make it happen.

Hi Gary - are you a UK income tax payer (or your wife? Or indeed another family member?)?
If yes, I have a mainstream ghost story in development, with a high-quality script. It's being produced through an SEIS-approved SPV. If eligible, you could turn your £3k "pot" into a £6k investment, with a decent chance of getting a return and profit (which you're unlikely to get with a short film). I understand that you want to be involved in the production process. Please contact me glyn@storiesintolight.co.uk

Gary, I think you have asked this question several times on here and a lot of people initially answered including myself but you did not follow through. There are hundreds of us who would love your investment and I still would . But you never said whether you read my pitch of did or did not like it. It would be much appreciated if you wrote on here why you rejected the projects that were put forward and what exactly you are looking for. I.e. I am looking for: specify genre, no of actors , location for drama, subject matter for docs etc. This would help the shooters who apply. As for other sites this is the best one! I have around 13 dramas and docs in preproduction, I am sure I have something to suit and keen to include you as crew, email me on info@luminofilms.co.uk

Hi Gary, my project, a short film noir in the classic style, is about a very conflicting and not-spoken-about theme in Switzerland and elsewhere in Europe – suicide. I am still looking for a little bit of financial backing to be able to shoot it on an original location in a small town Switzerland. If the theme or style attracts you, I can send you the script (which is, according to the genre, in english). Best, Andreas (andreas.kueng@gmail.com)
