If you want a great script reader, choose someone who has qualifications as well as experience, this is an industry still, where there is a wide range of experience and it's hard to tell how good a reader is - but choose a trained editor/screenwriter who ha studied at University, or a recognised accredited course and at least you know you will be getting objective advice about the craft of writing, rather than just observations or worse, subjective misguided feedback.... Praise you can get from your mates and colleagues!

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your feedback.
I am at the stage where I have completed a couple of screenplays and wanted objective industry led feedback on them prior to pitching the work.
I'd like a script consultant of script reader to give me their analysis of tweaks which may be needed prior to the pitching process.
I've taken a look at the blog post you sent, though I guess my concern is that thus far a lot of the consultants and readers I've come across have worked on films which are really unknown.
Kind regards

Jon Gilbert be great - his a shooter, email is jongilbert47@hotmail.com. He is an excellent reader, done work for major film companies etc, and came third in the final draft screenplay award for his own work.

Why not look up script editors on IMDB and contact the ones who have been involved in projects you like?
Offer them sensible money up front, (they don't know you, you nede to get their attention, not ask their rates).
As someone who does this on a friends basis, be aware that while a bad script is obvious within moments, can be skimmed and boilerplate comments attached, a GOOD script takes a day to read, consider, make notes, highlight issues and suggest fixes/approaches. Offer tham whatever counts as a good day or two freelance pay for an editor.

I can recommend Danny Stack, who you can contact via his website Scriptwriting in the UK. He has plenty of experience as a TV scriptwriter and as a professional reader and script editor. Another contact I have is Donna-Marie Dow, who you can contact via info@turnanewpage.com. She specialises in comedies and a nice person to work with.

Hi Rickardo, I think it really depends on what you want out of a reader. There are a lot of consultants that can help you make your script better. But the more expensive upper tier consultants are produced screenwriters and know what Hollywood is actually looking for at this point in time. Here in Hollywood, Ashely Scott Meyers is one of the hotter consultants. I've never used him, so I'm just going by the rumor mill. Check out his site:
