INDEXSeeking producer and director for 2 short dramas.
8 years, 11 months ago - James Turner
Hi there. I have two completed short dramas that would suit a director and producer.
I studied screenwriting at 'Screen Academy Scotland' and obtained an MA in Screenwriting. I am currently working on a novel and a TV Pilot.
One has a social realist / gangster vibe and the other has an Irvine Welsh/ Social realist vibe. One is a drama while the latter starts out as if it is a comedy before turning serious.
My credits can be found on my website (I have some experience in producing) which can be found on: www.imagenfilms.co.uk.

Hi James,
Sounds interesting. What budget do you have for the two films?
Regards
Wozy

I'm a just a guy with two scripts that I'm hoping someone will make. I have very little money but it's also a couple of scripts that someone can make as a collaboration without paying me for them depending in your point of view. I understand putting an advertisement can make the impression that I am looking for someone to hire.

It's not a major crime James nor is it a deliberate misrepresentation but it is a reminder to our members that compared with writing stories and actually making films, we'll at least those that have some chance of standing above the clichéd and/or insipid, paying for them is greater challenge.
Requests ought to be accompanied by a clear declaration of budgetary reality. Most folk here who are actually able to convert words written on paper into a film, other than a hobbiest exercise, need to work professionally.

I know this. And I do. It's just that I also see requests for screenplays from people that don't want to pay for them because it is a collaboration. I don't mind this because I have little money myself. Should I just reply to the advertisements/requests for screenplays rather than posting an advertisement out?

I understand people need to be paid. I really would love to hire people. How should requests to look at scripts be written then if one is just looking for a collaboration? I'm just looking to get my scripts out there and if people want to take them further I would appreciate that. I've only just joined Shooting People but I noticed that people were posting advertisements in the questions section for their screenplays looking for someone to produce them collaboratively. So I thought this was the appropriate area. Apologies if I came across in the wrong manner.

I've just discovered the script pitch bulletins. I'll use that from now on.

Just to weigh in here, in future its probably best to post projects separately into the Cast & Crew section of the site if you have a specific need. That way, the answer fields will lead towards including what members wish to know / budget / details etc. and everyone will have a good sense of what you're looking for.
And yes, for floating scripts, script pitch is the way.
Welcome to SP btw.
