Nigel, an Englishman, and his Canadian wife, Alice, move into an idyllic Breton cottage with their baby, Henry. They become enmeshed with a World War Two mystery, witnessing a ghostly execution viewed over a videocam they set up so they can watch over Henry sleeping in another room. They come to believe that not only is the spirit world interacting with the internet but that their lives have been manipulated to bring them together to this time and place.
