I shot my last feature in 20 days, so I know how to write a film that can be shot in 28 days.
However, if you're limiting yourself to self-financing, I'm assuming there's no money for the writer.
Is there money for the writer? If not, I'll shoot it myself. Maybe I can hire your camera?

Hi Stuart
You're welcome to read my treatment for a dark, psychological drama 'Disclosure' and see if it appeals. It can be easily achieved on a low budget and has received strong feedback from the industry. Would also suit a documentary style. Please e-mail me if you're interested preethim@talktalk.net

I'm with Paddy: 28 days can mean limited locations, a smaller cast, small crew, etc. Or it can mean you've got a boatload of cash, and can hire a ton of construction people to get those sets build on a stage, and just plow through 28 days really efficiently. So, what's your money like?
If you don't want to list your budget, that's probably OK, too. I don't expect many on Shooting People know how much that city street scene in 1954 London will cost. So you might want to list some limitations other than days. Even if it's 4 people in a field during winter, winter days are shorter and you have no alternative set to go to when it starts to rain. So are you looking for mostly interior? Small cast? Set in current day? How about genre? Do we need another zombie movie or 6 teenagers in a cabin in the woods? What's the film you want to make?

Hi Stuart,
I think documentary approach is probably a good style for the film then, sounds like 'Series 7 - The Contenders' (movie) would have been right up your alley!
Shooting 2 camera for drama isn't always as fast as it sounds - you do get more framings for the edit, but you make your life harder keeping each other out of shot and really limit your boom options! But it sounds like you've done the time already, so can afford some creative fun :-) Hope it goes well, if I'm able to help in any way, do ask :)

A potential film such as you describe is readily available. All the necessary ingredients are in place. It is designed to be simple and economic to produce, no car chases. Genre is entertainment for a wide public. Much pre-production work has been accomplished to make ready for collaboration. An opportunity to discuss it with you would be welcome.
In Central London, or could travel. Humphrey Truman

Hi
Thanks for the responses - I dont want to get into a debate about budget as we all know that is a 'how long is a piece of string'. Shooting 2 cameras for example speeds up the drama hugely. If anyone has a proposition which maybe be interesting please send a two-three liner to mail@wild-dream.com - all ideas are in confidence. Thanks Stuart

Everyone in this conversation so far has considerable relevant, even if differing, experience. Clearly the vacuum of potentiality into which these resource are capable of manifesting are yet to be defined, there is however an appropriate opportunity for those potential collaborators who can find the synergy.

Hi Paddy - I've been directing for over 28 years - no movies yet. But have built up a strong international profile for my documentary work. I've even sold a drama short film to HBO which was an achievement. I've made over 30 documentaries - from the Subways in New York, the Vanishing of Richey Manic to serial killers form north Wales - all are very visual. Budget needs to be very low as I may self finance - I have an Epic X, F55 and 2 F900 and editing equipment and a team I work with regularly - so can achieve extremely high end quickly. I'm thinking maybe a documentary style approach. Hope that helps Thanks S

Hello Stuart,
I have a script that might work..if a decent rehearsal svedule can be added on? It's got me loads of meetings but no buyers yet.. It's a teen comedy, thriller, road movie type thing. The leads are two teenage girls and one of their sisters, aged 10.
All the best, Ali

If the question is still on the table, I would have two scripts that might work. One of them is mainly set in Mumbles (Swansea) and otherwise inside with a couple of exceptions. There is an alternative version set in North Germany with some of the English characters having been turned into Americans, as that area was under US occupation before and there are fewer Brits.
The other script is based on someone else's play and I would have to get in touch with his widow, if she would be okay with its being turned into a film. This one is set in an abandoned, boarded-up bar.
If you are interested in the first script and the German location, I would be able to offer our services as co-producers. This would make it possible for you to access local funds. And producing in the area is actually a very nice experience, as you will get lots of things for free and people here are generally helpful.
Cheers,
Cedar

Stuart has been around for a long time and has an extensive list of broadcast productions and features under his belt. As much as I've learned to ignore the term 'award winning', he has a few. I remember way back in the early 90's shooting a piece about him making one of the earliest HD films made in the UK. The recorder was a reel to reel vehicle mounted system provided by Sony and Nippon TV. It was shown on the Jumbo-tron in Tokyo Grand Central Station! Lovely it was too.

Hi Stuart
I'm new to script writing and am learning along the way. I have very quickly done a film short screenplay (7 pages) for a competition. Whilst formulating ideas I came up with one which I mapped out for a feature. I then condensed down one aspect of the film to 7 pages for the competition.
The story can be set anywhere. It's a powerful dramatisation about a single parent and her semi-autistic daughter. A chance discovery of an old family treasure changes their lives forever. It's based on two central characters. Most of it is shot in and around their home, car (driving) and a private school. This story could be set anywhere and can be done on a small budget within 28 days.
