Jonathan, a young boy who does not want to stand up to bullies at his school meets a ghost like figure, a guardian of one fragment of the ancient Great Seal of the land of Darwen. Jonathan travels with the guardian back to the land of Darwen and discovers a people terrorised and subjugated by an evil race and then also discovers that he may be part of the prophecy about when the people of Darwen will be freed again.
